The new age dawns and the nations of Exia struggle for power, each fighting to gain the upper hand. Wars forged of blood and iron clash on the borders year after year with no hope of a victor. Tired of the never ending wars one brave and foolish nation commits the ultimate taboo, the use of magic. In a flash the nation becomes ash and the gate to hell open swallowing them whole from the gate powerful demons are set free to plague the lands. Ancients tales told of giant creatures in iron clad called the ONI, each having its own unique ability to cause suffering and pain. With the joining of the remaining six nations of Exia they were able to muster enough strength, through the use of a combination of magic and technical genius, to drive the demons to the pits they were born. The time of peace quickly ended with the discovery that some ONI could be controlled with the new knowledge of the metal soldiers known as mecha. Brave skilled warriors would link their minds with the minds of the demons the victor of the mental battle would gain control of the demons body.
